Love Her Look: Back To Black

It's been a while since I've done a Love Her Look post, most probably as I haven't felt all that inspired by much recently. I'm not a natural summer dresser, I love my layers and my tailoring so struggle a little bit at this time of year because the floaty, boho bits I love often just don't fit my shape! However, I saw this picture on Pinterest (500k+ followers now, thank you!) and it did inspire me not to forget the colour black in summer - and - it also reminded me to dress for my shape (the way this fits her shape means she won't get drowned away in it, making her look bigger - believe it or not).

My friend Angie wore a really similar outfit the other week and she's a similar shape to me which encouraged me that this could work - the skirt will skim over your thighs but draw you in at the waist, and the top and hides your upper arms, win!  The sandals are lush too, I've found a similar black pair at Alexander Wang at The OutNet here, and I already have some good brown options (here, now reduced to £30) from Anthropologie.

When looking for the skirt I went straight to Net A Porter. This may sound a bit affluent but I was told they have some great options, and they do! This Zeus+Dione one is reduced by 70% to £150 and this Needle and Thread one is full price at just over £100 - perfect if you are looking to make an investment. If you've never tried maxi skirts before, try this River Island one or this New Look one. Tops wise, finding a black off-shoulder top thats fitted isn't the easiest of tasks (I did, however, fall in love with a "close call" from Elizabeth and James here). The absolute winner was this Michael Kors number, again at the Net A Porter sale, but cheaper versions include this £15 one from Topshop and these (£14 for two!) ASOS ones.

Hope that encourages you to give it a go, a year ago I would never have worn a maxi skirt and now I live in them! This week I am going off to Limewood for a couple of days R+R, so excited
