New York Fashion Week - Look 1, Pastels

It's that time of year again - I love fashion weeks, but what with having a blog - I struggle with the pressure to understand, interpret and breakdown the trends and report them back when the last model gets off the cat walk.  So, this piece is by no means an attempt to 'biblify' the NYFW SS12 shows, but just my own take on the thousands of collections that were to be seen.  I've broken it down in to the different looks, and here is my first one, pastels.

First up, say goodbye to your brights if you want to be a fashion darling in 2011 - colours have gone soft and ice creamy.  Yellows and turquoises remain acceptable, but not a peek of bright pinks or oranges except for your lipstick.  Shown at Preen, Ralph Lauren, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Diane von Furstenberg, Prabal Guring (think someone there likes purple) and Mrs Victoria Beckham (this woman just gets better).

Shorts, sportsluxe ones in particular and bags with lots of bits on.  Ooh and tuxedo jackets, lots of tuxedo jackets...  Or baby pink biker jackets if you're part of the Ralph Lauren team... White in general , but not with black, with colour.  Goodbye monochrome, sob.
