Fashion Week Trend - Yellow Accessories

Designers both sides of the Atlantic, the Med and the Channel were using yellow as a staple colour for their accessories - particularly handbags for their SS12 collections.  Nicole Farhi went even further and used the tone as her only 'non neutral' colour in her entire show.  So for anyone who did invest in 2011, well done as you'll be wearing this for the whole of 2012.  Interestingly, it was the brands associated with the staple or capsule collections that worked this the most - here are our favourite examples:

Phillip Lim @NYFW using the colour for his clutches and satchel bags

Aquascutum @LFW uses yellow to colour block, seen here with a pair of brogues

Holly Fulton mixes up her tribal and art deco prints with a yellow purse @LFW

@LFW Sass and Bide used the colour as a statement tone for all their structured handbags, necklaces and bracelet pieces - the only monotone items in their embellished and tribal themed collections

Anyone who knows me well, will know that I practically burst with excitement when I saw the Mulberry yellow dog jacket in their @LFW collection. GAH! Their patent handbags weren't bad either.

So it seems that whether it is a bold or a bright tone, yellow remains a key colour for SS12.  Mustard is totally fazed out - so don't buy into it, we didn't see it once.  But do invest in jewellery or handbags in the colours above - or make your own like one of my best friends Geneva at apairandaspare here.
