High Street: American Apparel Accordion Skirt

If you are anything like me, then the collection that blew you out of the wonder (and cry about not being able to0 afford) was the Chloe SS11 one.  Their pleated skirts, neutral colours (though with a hint of the bronze stuff that will carry through to AW11) and all that jazz... Hannah McGibbon's final collection for the house oozed class, sophistication and elegance - and luckily for us, the high street has caught on in a big way.  You can definitely tell that main boss Phoebe Philo worked for Stella McCartney too - there are huge similarities between the houses in 2011...

The staple piece from the collection was definitely the long, pleated skirts - and having surfed the net and the streets for a replica I have finally found one that doesn't look bad (shiny fabrics are so hard find cheaply without looking... cheap) over at American Apparel:

Mix this with a body or tight fitting tee as above to mirror the 'Ballet look' that everyone is going for following the successes of Black Swan etc, etc.  At £51, it isn't an impulse purchase - but it also isn't going to break the bank.  I personally don't like maxi skirts with heels (recipe for disaster??) but for those who do, or rather can walk doing it, then buy some brown/nude heels.  I'll be wearing mine with my ballet pumps and my hair in a bun...
