All The Threes, Thirty Three

So today is my birthday, I'm turning 33 at 11.43am. Just in time for lunch, a philosophy I have stuck to for my entire life. 32 was my best year yet and I'm seriously excited for the next chapter.

To mark the occasion I put on my favourite dress and hit the streets of Shoreditch to twirl around like a loony in it. It's a Zimmermann again; my favourite brand ever. Yes their dresses are expensive but ever so often I think it good to purchase something completely irrational (and it was this or a puppy, which is a bad idea right now). I've included some more purse friendly options further down the post - but I fully recommend going the whole hog, here. They even have a few colour options, below (as do the shoes).

So, what have I learnt at 33 that I didn't know at 30? Quite a bit actually. My thirties truly are my best decade yet. Yes, there have been some epically low parts but I have come to the realisation that everything does happen for a reason and, as a double cliche, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. I'm going into this year very content with everything work and play for the first time in a long time. I wasted an enormous amount of time trying to fit in, and my only regret is not figuring out that if something isn't right either try to change it or move on, a bit quicker than I did.

An other thing I wish I figured out sooner was how much I love dresses. A few years ago I was a blazer and jeans girl. That part of me still exists (see my Instagram feed, here) but I do love a swishy dress. Whilst I was sorting out my summer clothes last week I realised quite how many I have, and I absolutely loved hunting down some slightly more sensibly priced dresses for you below. I totally love the Zimmermann, and if you've got a special occasion I seriously suggest you go for it, but I understand it's doesn't work for everyone, so here you go =

Firstly I found this one for £40 on Boohoo. Now, it's not going to be the same quality so lets no pretend - but - I saw someone's sister on Facebook wearing it to a wedding and it looked gorgeous. Next  up this one from Cali is gorgeous too, I actually ordered it just to see the fit and it's really good. Amen to ASOS Premium, it's already back with them and I've been refunded. My go to place for boho dresses is Free People; regardless of the season they always have what I want. In summary they have tonnes of this kind of thing - this silk dress is the best one but search all their options here.

Topshop has some brilliant options and I've spotted this dress on Instagram a lot. I love the detail on the bust and the cut is really flattering. Secondly this one with the one shoulder detail is absolutely gorgeous and I actually ordered it off the back of finding it, here. Last but not least this one is a brilliant winter option, if you've got a winter wedding then it'll do nicely.

The cardi is a new gift from Jigsaw. If you've watched my YouTube channel (please do its a new thing for me and I'd love your feedback, find it here) you'll know I think very highly of their cashmere. This cardigan is no exception. I've always wanted a simple, soft, curl-up cardigan and this is finally it. It goes with everything and I reckon I'll still be wearing it in 20 years time. Find it here.

The bag was a lovely gift from the guys at Net A Porter. I could not be happier with it. I didn't even know that I had an APC brown leather bag shaped hole in my life but I did and it's been rectified. I saw my sister's one back in August (she has the zip up version here) and instantly fancied one. It goes brilliantly with these kind of boho, floaty looks and we are very happy together. Find it here.

Oh and jewellery. Unless you've been living under a rock (or just haven't been on Instagram recently) you'll know all about Lucy Williams' second collaboration with Missoma. This time Lucy was inspired by Rome, which suits me just fine as it's one of my favourite cities. Missoma kindly gifted me this ring and this necklace. I'm a bit addicted to it all and have put the green sapphire coloured stuff on my Christmas list - you probably should too. Explore the whole collection here.

And so, thats the end of this post. I'm off to enjoy a gin and tonic at 11am, as is tradition for my birthdays. At least it has been for the last 15 years...
