The Perfect Autumn Maxi Dress

I like autumn. No, I love autumn. Trouble is I never really know how to dress. With the British weather being pretty much impossible you never know whether or not to wear a jumper, a coat, snow boots... The list goes on. I'm finding it's taking me about a quarter of an hour longer than normal to get ready and often once I've had a coffee I'll look down at myself and think "what the hell am I wearing?" as my early-morning-zombie outfit decision just don't make any sense...

So, I set out to find things I really could just throw on and found this dress. It works. I really can have that extra quarter of an hour in bed, or extra stroll around the Heath with Lopez in the morning. It's floaty, its winter coloured and it'll look great with a roll neck underneath once it really does get colder. Also, although it's floaty sleeved it's got elastic at the wrist meaning when you go to the bathroom you don't have to look like you're casting spells to avoid an accident (come on, we've all been there).

I've realised my recent posts have all featured And Other Stories, I own a lot from there with good reason - their stuff bridges the gap between practical and looking that lil' bit stylish (hate that word but the synonym function on my Mac couldn't inspire an alternative) which lets be honest we all do kind of crave... I think what I'm trying to say is I never feel intimidated by their collections and feel that "someone like me" can wear them without being mocked for being a trend-junky.

As if the stars were aligning in our favour they've got a VIP sale on at the moment and from taking a quick look it looks really good; some of their dresses are from £90ish to £30ish. Have a look here. They've for some reason put in some of their basics like their silk shirts which are amazing, here is the link. Also, *old woman alert* all their stuff washes really well an if you hang the majority of stuff up when it comes out of the wash you won't have to iron it...

Any way, back to the dress. I really enjoyed swishing around the back streets of Hampstead in this. Even though it's got tonnes of fabric and it quite oversize (I bought my usual size and maybe could have gone down) I don't feel enormous in it. It's got an elasticated waist (code for; we can eat puddings without feeling like we're suffocating) so it does give you a nice shape.

I just checked and it does seem to be selling fast so if you want it don't do that think where you save it for a rainy day purchase because the one thing that's annoying about And Other Stories is their product runs are really small. So get it here.
