Mango Red Dress

Can we just have a moment for Mango, please? I've bought so much from there this summer which is a total first for me. Before, I really thought everything was for Spanish skinnies and the idea of trying on their trousers filled me with dread. Equally, their tops and dresses were just a bit... cheap. Even though the Oxford Street store was bang in the middle of everywhere else I'd nip into, I'd never go there. Now, that's all changed...

When I was in Rome the other week I was happily going through my emails when I spotted one from the brand titled "Boho Revival" (here is the edit if you're interested). I quickly bought the lot. The lot. Longer term followers will know I'm a bit obsessed with anything embroidered and boho, so these trousers were first in my basket (going to wear them solidly at Wilderness). Shortly behind it was this. The red dress... It used to be the "Special K" look but roll forward a few years into the times of social media and everyone is after the "emoji perfect" dress (and I've found it).

If you follow any bloggers on Instagram you'll already know what the hit favourites are from Mango this summer (follow me please, I'm losing the will to live with the Instagram algorithm, here). This white dress is all over the 'gram at the moment, having tried it on I can see why. If I didn't already have one like it (which annoyingly was £100 more expensive) I'd have bought it for sure. Mango's earrings are having a bit of a revival too - no longer are they a bit sh*t. I bought these ones and also found some gems for £4 in the sale, check out the selection here. They're perfect to jazz up an outfit, or get you in the mood for festivals...

But my hero piece really is this dress. Even Gus spontaneously commented how nice it was (though he did also suggest wearing it one of the September weddings we have and I don't think it's quite smart enough for that...) which very rarely happens, usually it's a forced held to ransom "how do I look?" moments before we go out the door... Poor dude.

I wore this for a day of meetings last Friday and a catch up with Emma, before asking her to take a few snaps on our way home for the weekend. I just love how easy it is to wear. It looks great with blue denim (I wore it over the weekend again with my J Crew denim jacket, here) and equally looks good with simple black heels/sliders for the evening. I'd been searching for the perfect little red dress for ages, and am so glad I found this! Ooh, also worth mentioning that the linen isn't too creasy. I wore it solidly all day for meetings and running about town and it wasn't too bad at all.

Also wanted to mention my earrings. A few weeks ago the guys from Edge of Ember got in touch about their collection. In truth, we get quite a lot of emails like this from jewellers but when I went on their site, here, I was seriously impressed. They've nailed the whole "simple with a twist" thing and I picked out these earrings as in the photos above. I absolutely love them, they come in silver here too if you're more of a pale metal girl. They're noticeably well made, not too heavy on the ear and not extortionately expensive (these are just under £60).

I couldn't thank the team there enough, and am so impressed. They're offering my followers 25% off with the code SMSS25 if you'd like to treat yourself, or a friend in August. Enjoy!
