Mango Stripe Dress

Last week was a total wipeout. Anyone else struggled with the heat!? Despite fans, prehistoric air conditioning machines, ice baths and too many Magnums to mention, I completely lost all ability to concentrate on work. Fortunately this coincided with most of my favourite stores going into sale. So I went shopping.

I mentioned on my Stories that I was a little bit excited about the Mango sale. I was freakishly organised with my approach, adding to basket and bookmarking all the things I wanted to make sure I was first in line. The first thing I purchased was this dress. It's everything I look for in a hot weather outfit. No bra required, flattering elastic in the middle, halter neck (great for slimming your arms) and most importantly; blue, white and striped. It was already super reasonable at £39 but it went down to £29 in the sale. I've got the size small and could probably have worn a size down in it as it's very stretchy and roomy. Find it here.

I decided my organised online spree wasn't enough so popped into store to check out what was in offer. It's often tricky to know with the high street whether something is going to be for you; 1% too much polyester and what goes from being perfect swings to being awful and cheap. Mango do have a really good returns set up, but if you've got the fear of post offices that I do (entirely irrational, I just hating queuing) it's worth going into store and trying things on.

Any way, above are some of the things I found and liked - the first being a blue dress a friend has that I've had my eye on for a while. Next are two more dresses = a gingham number for £15 and a little red floral wrap romper (unless you've been living under a rock you may have picked up that owning one of these is key to style success this summer). Also completely fell in love this these blue and white trousers, the frill on the end balances out my thighs too - super slimming! Everyone seems to be going on about veil-like dresses, and this one is far more flattering than the H&M one girls are wearing (sorry but it just doesn't do anything for their shape). Lastly I bought this Gucci-like green dress to wear on holidays or with tees (as styled) on this side of the Channel.

The shoes were a panic buy on Friday as I realised I was going to head straight from work to an event  and was bombing around town in my trainers. I found them in store for £12, but they don't seem to be online. Apparently further stock goes online next week so here is a link to the "brown shoes" page for you to keep tabs on. Have to say, I'd never bought shoes from Mango before and so far so good. I've worn them for 3 days straight and they're super comfortable. Below are a few more examples of good flats and sandals all under £29 - and a particular shout out to these No. 21 copies at £29. Genius.

I hadn't planned on posting about my jewellery but a few of you have asked via Instagram where my bits and bobs are from so thought I'd share on here. The majority of my jewellery is from Missoma which lots of you shop at already. Their style is very "me" - paired back, not too fussy and good enough quality to wear in the shower (my laziness doesn't really work with really pieces so Missoma is a good half way house).

My necklace here and bracelet here are from one of their earlier collections, and my rings are a combination of a range in collaboration with Lucy Williams (find the whole range here, and my ring here) and new direction with gemstones. I spotted this ring on another friend, it was instant love and I knew I had to have it. Other bits I have include this ear cuff thing (you'll see what I mean when you click) which is perfect for wimps like me who want more ear piercings but are afraid of the gun...

You look gorgeous, as always (I know because I've been following you for, I think, over 5 years now!).
