Marks and Spencer Floral Dress

My god, how has Easter come and gone already? I feel like it's totally crept up on me and neither me or my wardrobe was ready for it! I took a big look at my "summer stuff" and it's all too "hot weather." Spring in the UK is sweating profusely in a sweater one minute, shivering in shorts the next! So, I've been on the hunt for things that work no matter what the temperature and floral dresses seem to be the most obvious winner...

When I first saw this dress in an editorial in a magazine, I knew I had to have it. I went straight online and bought it, even though in the back of my mind I was thinking "ooh it's from Per Una, that's where older women shop in M&S." It arrived, I put it on and all worry about getting old disappeared. It's just so lovely and uplifting to wear! I know that probably sounds odd, but the colours just make you feel good. I love the brightness of the blue, the print, and shape. Even though it's oversize it's also tailored (spot the rushing at the top of the arm) so you don't feel like you're wearing a floral bag. Oh, and 4 people have asked me if' it's Gucci. I mean, come on. Find it here, in fact screw it I'll say it; don't just find it, buy it here (and if you're still not convinced, it comes in a shirt too here).

I think there is a reason beyond the logos that Gucci has had such a resurgence. It's incredibly easy and flattering to wear. Loose, floaty angles mixed with prints or deep tones that look good on the majority of skin tones. The high street can recreate it incredibly easily too, you just need to stick to the rules above. As I'm not quite in the shape I want to be for summer yet I've been buying lots of pieces that fit this idea. Here are the best of them:

I'm really happy with the stuff I've picked out, but a real shout out needs to go to Topshop for making a floral version of the dotted Realisation Par dress everyone wore last summer for £32, here. If you're going to a festival, beach or anywhere remotely warm this summer make sure you throw this in your bag as it'll be an absolute gem for those days when you don't have anything to wear...

I should also kindly remind you that you could win all this stuff over, yep the whole outfit, if you enter my competition with Intu, here. They've got an £1000 shopping voucher prize where you can spend the winnings at ASOS, Missguided, River Island, Topshop and Marks and Spencer (there are a tonne of others but you can see the full list on their site). I rarely do competitions on the blog as I think they're a bit of a disguised way to accrue followers, but this one seemed like a good way to say thank you - and it included all the brands you know I already shop in...

Before I go, lets have a quick shout out for Gigi my new prized possession, otherwise known as a GG Marmont Camera Mini. Followers of my Instagram here will know the anguish I went through over buying her. It took me weeks decide on the size and colour, but I couldn't be happier with her and can't wait to take her with me throughout the summer. I picked blue as it's stands out more than a neutral (but is in truth, kind of my neutral) but goes with pretty much everything. She's also proving to be very stain resistant which I discovered after an awful red wine experience... If you are considering an investment, find her here and her friends in different colours here.
