Warehouse Sport Mix Top

I was sooooo close to pressing 'buy' on netaporter before Christmas, to spend the best part of £80 on a lovely J Crew sport style top, and am now so glad I didn't.  Thank you Warehouse, I am forever in your debt.  Or not as the case may be, as they have just brought out this little gem.  At £32 it is less than half the price of the J Crew one, and thats before delivery costs.

Loving the silk/cotton mix - perfect weekend wear, yet the silk also makes it office acceptable.  I am pairing it with my leather skirt and Ambush boots. LOVE.  I absolutely love the whole silk and sweater duo this season... Forcing myself not to overspend.

Rosie Sugden's Fluoro Beanie

It's still bl**dy cold isn't it!?  I was hoping to start dressing as if for Spring, but no such luck.  In December I posted about the need for a bright pink hat in winter. THAT is how long it has taken me to find one.  I've had a mountain of hat envy towards AGirlinBoston and Steffy of SteffysProsandCons ever since I found snaps of them in theirs, below.

So you imagine my mental leap for joy when I discovered a new brand Rosie Sugden, by Rosie - a knitwear graduate who launched her own label in 2011.  Everything is made and designed in Scotland (which for some reason makes me feel that they would much warmer than if it had been made anywhere else - maybe because it is so. effing. cold. in Scotland). Here is her wonderful bright pink beanie, made with cashmere (of course, what else!) which you can buy here for £95.00.

Check out all of Rosie's stuff at her website, RosieSugden here, or follow her on Twitter here.  Lovely stuff, and great to find a new name to harp on about - love buying from independent names.  If only it wasn't Frugal February (my vague pledge not to splurge this month)!

Street Style Spot - Christine Centerena

I saw this picture om WhatWouldAshleyWear and had to share (ooh that rhymes).  I'd never heard of Christine Centerena before, but she's gorgeous and I love this dress - think it is Preen (or maybe Christopher Kane?), though I am happy to be stood corrected if you know better...

Simple style, reminds me of my Zara dress I bought for my friend's wedding last August (that Olivia Palermo then bought, copy cat).  The style is so distinct so I hope I can get away with wearing it again this year!

Prada Pastels at Miss Selfridge

Prada SS12

Ever since the September shows I have been obsessed with the amounts of ice cream tones in the Spring/Summer 2012 collections - Prada being a prime example. I am all over the pleated pinks, yellows and greens with pops of red and orange - but obviously not all over the prices (the cheapest thing to walk down the Prada runway last year was £120, and it was a sock).  So it is with GREAT pleasure, that I show you two fab pieces from Miss Selfridge and their genius design team...

They haven't come in to store yet, but I suggest you bookmark their Dress Shop page and check it daily for updates.  Am loving Miss Selfridge this year - they are the rising star of the Arcadia Group in my opinion, and I find their clothes so easy to wear.  Love!

Alber Elbaz's drawings..

I've really been hunting around and I came across this photo whilst searching for some new blogs to keep my brain ticking in January (seriously, when is pay day?) and I can actually afford the simple things in life like La Duree and Malbec.  I found a little blog called Violeta Purple, and I can't quite work out which magazine the girl works for, but regardless she gets an insiders look on all sorts of places.  Including Lanvin HQ and Alber Elbaz's own office, where she took this picture:

I, the artist limited to stick men, find it amazing that a picture like this can be taken and interpreted into a dress on the catwalk, later into stores.  Don't get me wrong, these pictures are amazing but they don't exactly say, 'use X fabric, cut the bias here, fasten with a zip.'  Clearly a hidden talent in design/tailoring at Lanvin is being a little psychic...

Saturday

A couple of amusing shots...

So we've just got the new camera working, at last.  So many things to photograph now, all will follow.  First up, a few pictures of the dog. Who is going through a very rebellious 'I won't sit unless you show me why I should first' phase. Little dog, big attitude.  Thought you might like to see a few of the hundreds...

think I need a hair cut

this is tiring

seriously, that piece of hair is really bugging me

can I get on the bed? / or chew your hand?

this bed is WAY too small for me now

seriously, hair cut, now

Sh*t Fashion Girls Say, Part Two

This is possibly the funniest thing I have seen in 2012.  Thank you Natalie Hughes for your comedy genius YouTube searching ability.  Much love.

Love the 'I die' - that has wound me up for MONTHS.  Maybe it's the english-teacher-mother upbringing, but that expression isn't even grammatically correct.  And the whole bridge and tunnels thing cracks me up - reminds me of being in New York when some Upper East side, Tory Burch and McQueen clad lollipop heads in Bergdorf Goodman were talking about someone wearing Ugg boots...  Chill the hell out and have a burger.

[New Name] Three Floor Fashion

I have a new brand to scream about - Three Floor Fashion.  I discovered it last week, and have spent a LOT of time since cooing over pieces in their recent collection.  I haven't found any where that stocks the brand, but their online store is amazing and I have bookmarked a lot of pieces to take away with me on holiday. (Oh, incase I haven't mentioned - my super duper boyfriend booked a holiday to Barbados for us in April - so excited, but need to find a home for Lopez whilst we're away...).

Now, some of this stuff is a little bit edgy for me - I will never be a rocker chick with my upbringing, so I have never seen the reason to try (something like that only makes sense if your Dad was in a band, and you lived on a tour bus growing up). However, there are some really lovely pieces with an air of SS12 Prada (ice cream tones and bare tummies) and Temperley's white frills (think about the dress Kate Middleton wore to Wimbledon last year).  I NEED these for my holiday...

could be Temperley with that scallop detail - Sway Midi Dress £92.00

What I love most about Three Floor Fashion, is that it is very affordable.  There is an air of ASOS White about it, but without the price tag.  Love the monochrome, neon and panelling too - someone was watching the catwalks very carefully last year, and has produced some lovely bits of me to pine over...  Here are some other bits that I want/need/sulk about:

loving the monochrone - Truce Skirt £55.00 / Hanne Crop Top £39.00

Have a look at their full range here available on ASOS.

"The return of the pretty"

... is how Marc Jacobs is describing the Louis Vuitton campaign for this season. Love this shot, and firmly ticks the pastels and sixties trends I spotted in the fashion weeks last year (well, not only I spotted obviously, but you know what I mean)...

Karlie Kloss for Mary Katranzou for Topshop

Getting very excited about Mary Katranzou for Topshop now - not long till it hits our stores.  I've never been this excited about a collaboration - in this case I think sleeping on the street the night before to make sure you get something makes perfect sense. Call me a fashion victim, but I have LOVED Katrantzou for a long time - she is after all the woman who put structure into our dresses - and made antique/china prints acceptable.

Here are some new pictures released from the store of Karlie Kloss modelling for the campaign - beautiful.  Karlie is such a good face for this range, as she herself is the right mix of delicate and fierce just like the designs.  It's quite difficult to see the full prints in these images - but it's enough to get my heart rate up...

Street Style Spot: Miroslava Duma

I saw these photos on a fab new blog find called Styluste, run by two girls called Rebecca and Renee.  I'd seen photos of this girl before but had no idea who she was.  Turns out she is the former editor of Russia's Harpers Bazaar and is called Miroslava Duma.  Love her style - she wears all the pieces that stand out for me from the fashion weeks as they pass.  Love her Christopher Kane Jupiter dress from 2009... Jealous!

Whistles Denim Claire Chambray Shirt

Ever since my post on the denim shirt and all the street style shots I found for it, I've been craving having one.  I'm using my Essential posts to help me downsize and prioritise things to buy/wear - capsule wardrobe ARE the way forward.  Whistles seem to be the store of choice for anyone looking to do the same thing. Pour example: this gorgeous denim shirt which is part of their SS12 collection (full range here).  One of my favourite high street must haves for the season, maybe even the year...

Colour blocking / The Claire Chambray Denim Shirt

To help you justify the purchase, Whistles have very kindly shown 6 different looks on how to wear the shirt, thus proving it as an absolutely essential piece for any self respecting fashionista in 2012. Have a peek through the pictures and then buy this little jewel here for £85.00 (save one for me though please, have bookmarked it for pay day!).
