[Trend] Jason Wu's Harness Trend

Some of you may remember a trend I picked up on from fashion week a few months ago: harnesses. Not a look I ever thought I could work into my fairly conservative wardrobe, but after seeing the Jason Wu way of doing it (one of my favourite designers) closely followed by Sass and Bide's pieces which they worked into their grecian goddess theme, I started to keep an eye out for pieces landing in stores...

Jason Wu SS13 / Sass and Bide SS13

I guess it makes sense when military trends are so strong that harnesses would start to crop up... The cross body pieces are a little bit 'out there' for me and my prudish ways, but I love the simple Jason Wu one in the right hand side of the photo above, and I think I can handle the idea of having it worked into a dress like the Sass and Bide ones above.  Herve Leger and BCBG Max Azria both had slightly more extreme pieces (have a look at my post here) with lots of leather and all over the body - I'm not quite there yet. If it remains feminine, I'll give it a go - so, the hunt started...

The first find is by Zana Bayne, quite a cool leatherware company in the US, and you know a look is becoming acceptable when Topshop get on the bandwagon - these two pieces are fab and could easily be matched up with floaty maxi skirts and tees. Or, I really like them with a good white shirt - my friend Sarah does this effortlessly. For a more subtle look, I've tracked down this Oasis Ellen dress for £100 (below)... I am definitely going to be giving this look a go, what do you think?
