[Trend] Varsity Jackets

All things American and sporty are hanging on into AW12 it seems, and the one thing from the trend I'm considering is the varsity jackets.  The baseball caps are a massive no for me - if you came from my part of London town you'd know that things in baseball hats aren't fantastic examples of our society (except for Kate Moss who I spotted the other week, obviously).  The joggers/sweatpants are for the gym, and my membership expired in 2003. So, jacket it is.  Plus, I had a browse on pinterest and found some really cool street style shots (above and below) and realised the look is damn easy, when you have the jacket...

I was lucky enough to visit the Whistles HQ the other week, and had a quick browse through their upcoming collection.  The whole time I was at the meeting I was trying to get a closer look at their two gorgeous varsity bomber jackets, which come in a black and a blue with leather sleeves.  Amazing. I loved them - they just look like the kind of things you'd be happy to be stuck in cold weather in when the dark nights and rain/sleet/snow/storms arrive here in the UK.

Not sure if you've already heard but Whistles are throwing a little shindig for Vogue Fashion Night Out on Thursday at their South Molton Street store - you can personalise your varsity jacket instore with your initials!  Pop down, I'll be there - details are all on their Facebook page here.  Hope to see you then!

We're loving the varsity jacket as a staple piece for fall. The black from Whistles would be great casual or for a night on the town.

I always love the sportswear/chic mix! There's also a sort of fifties feel to this trend that I really appreciate! xxx Hayley
