So it's that time of year again - Fashion week. Cue mayhem, madness and lack of sleep for every one trying to get a piece of SS13. Not sure about you, but I've found this season's collection far harder to capture - there are just so many looks! I've tried my best to nail the most consistent trends, but of course cannot possibly write about them all! First up, white dresses...
One of the first shows with the wow factor (in my opinion) was Victoria Beckham's. It seems the former spice girl who made her millions from singing without being able to erm, sing CAN actually make clothes. And very, very well. I'm sure like me you probably assumed she had a team that did it all for her, but given the respect she gets from the fash-pack I'm guessing it must actually be her... I loved her entire collection but the flagship pieces were her all white dresses...
Zac Posen SS13 / BCBGMAXAZRIA SS13
Diane Von Furstenberg SS13 / Helmut Lang SS13
I loved the ones with the torso cut outs too - although this does mean I'm going to have to spend between this exact moment and the start of next summer doing sit ups...
Peter Som SS13 / Rebecca Minkoff SS13
Theyskens Theory SS13 / Tibi SS13
Cushnie et Ochs SS13
The look continued through the whole of NYFW and into LFW - although many collections offered white-with-something-else pieces, lots still had solo white dresses. Deconstruction (when it looks like a garment has been cut up and put loosely together again - ie: gaps in the piece) was rife - as were lazer cutting techniques, androgynous collars and pairing up the harness of those themes with delicate lace and metallic accessories.
DKNY was another that completely blue me away - denim, light blue and white. My favourite things. Loved the mesh and sportsluxe themes that Donna worked into the collection too. Not sure about a baseball cap, trainers and a posh frock but hey - the season is young, I have time. The SS13 woman looks set to be confident, sassy and stocked up on stain remover. Note to self; no red wine next summer. (photos via Elle Uk)
