New York Fashion Week, Look 8 - Sixties Dresses

This is my final round up, Hope you are enjoying it (does mean I am posting more than usual, so apologies for all the posts).  It's quite fun to do - every night I am checking in to see what's been going on and picking up on trends it surprisingly easy.  One look that came up a lot was sixties themed dresses.  Houses like Marc by Marc Jacobs and Tori Burch unsurprisingly featured - but perhaps with the release of the new Jane Shrimpton movie coming up, baby doll dresses popped up everywhere.  Blair Waldorf would be delighted...

Lela Rose AW12

The female form is one to be admired for AW12 - we may be wrapping up in fur coats but underneath we are showing off our shape.  Love this whole look - dresses must be below the knee, and may well have embellished collars (seen at Victoria Beckham, Lela Rose and Derek Lam).  The peter pan collar ain't going anywhere!

Monique L'Huillier AW12 / Lela Rose AW12

I loved the make up and hair on the girls wearing these looks - either retro and up-n-twisted like the models above Monique L'Huillier and Lela Rose, or sleek and pushed back away from the face (very sixties, very baby-doll) with full pouted lips like at Victoria Beckham and Michael Kors.

Rachel Comey AW12 /

Oscar de la Renta AW12 / Jenny Packham AW12

Looks like any self respecting fashionista is going to need to buy some waist belts too... look how many collections had them in...  Footwear was a broad topic as there wasn't much consistency.  But it definitely looks like you will need a gentle heel (bub bye brogues) or some Mary Janes.

Derek Lam AW12

Thakoon AW12 / Victoria Beckham AW12

Prints were massively bold and retro like AW11, prints were a little more mild and more about embellished fabrics and technique that digital prints and bolds of last year.  Little hints of leather here and there too which shouldn't be missed... Leather was huge in New York this year.  Dresses have high necklines (sorry to those of you who are larger busted, this could be an issue) and were collared a huge amount too...

Diane Von Furstenberg AW12 / Thakoon AW12

Michael Kors AW12 / Tory Burch AW12
