This is the first London Fashion Week that I've really been interested in, or at least had a more knowledgeable interest in. It is my general opinion that gathering trends is much harder in London than it is in New York. In NYC there were clearly seven or eight key looks that 9/10 designers covered off in their collections. Which made it quite easy to keep up with. London however, is all about originality. I've managed to pick out a few - but it's much, much harder than I thought it would be (and I've had a little help from my friends.
Zoe Jordan AW12 / Aquascutum AW12
Acne AW12 / Bora Aksu AW12
This 'look' bounded out in front of me though, as I'd seen it somewhere before - two days ago in New York (which I blogged about here). Cocoon coats (not pea coats as I'd previously called them, I'm still learning clearly). Everyone from Vivienne Westwood (amongst the madness) to Acne had them. Aqua scutum added fur, Bora Aksu embroidered the sleeves - but generally speaking the look was the same. Non-complicated or hidden fastens - some with collars and some with an open neck.
Matthew Williamson AW12 / Daks AW12
It doesn't seem to matter what fabric to buy your coat in, although their was a lot of plain black and white in collections for AW12. Printed versions were also around, like at Moschino Cheap and Chic and Daks. I personally loved the sixties style ones - there was definitely an air of Jean Shrimpton in many collections this year with the babydoll dresses and long lashes too.
