Boutique: Medwinds Sandals

We've made a new discovery (with a little help from the guys at Elle magazine).  Medwinds is a fantastic online label, and our favourite piece at the moment from them are these sandals - a lovely mix of leather and espadrilles theme...

These are perfect holiday wear and have something very expensive looking about them - they are also are what we call a 'safe sandal' ie: you definitely won't end up looking like your gran in them, which is an error lots of people seem to be making at the moment in London town...

High Street: Celine/American Apparel Clutch

thetimeisgrey.blogspot.com

If there was one thing that clearly jumped out from the fashionista's outfits during the shows, it was the Celine clutch.  As a bright statement piece, it does everything you need to liven up a neutral outfit (as above).  Also as shown, it really can be worked with so many different looks.  However, do you really want to spend £700 on a large leather pencil case?  Thought not.  So we've found an alternative from the clever people at American Apparel.

They come in a million colours, so you can go as bright or plain as you like - we're lusting over the bright red and taupe below. At £46, they are £654 cheaper than the Celine - which leaves you enough for a more logical splurge - like the Mulberry Polly?!

Boutique: Vince

Looking for some new classic pieces to replace those in your capsule wardrobe?  Look no further than LA brand Vince which has just launched in the UK.  Oozing with cool, their simple pieces in super luxe fabrics really take 'simple' to a whole new level of necessity.  Whether its a new plain white tee, Breton top or a leather pair of trousers, Vince has it all.

We've spent a good hour oogling over their site, but have managed to shortlist our favourite pieces down to these few (below).  Expensive but worth investing in, a friend has a tee from there that looks brand new but is years old!

We love their 'second skin' jeans, that really are exactly that.  They feel amazing on, and flatter your legs and bum with great shaping.  Perfect for a casual-cool look.

This cardigan could become your new 'go to' sweater - the one we all have that seems to drape our shoulders the moment we want a little bit of comfort!

This piece is the one we're all drooling over.  It's a million times better than the J Crew version that everyone stateside is wearing, and a great little number to roll into AW11 as metallics and sequins come more into play.

The perfect balance of edgy and classic: Glossy, laser-cut black leather is pieced into a sophisticated sleeveless shell.  More expensive, but can't ever imagine parting with it, so well worth it.

This is one of the pieces the brand is becoming reknown for.  Lovely cut, and range of colours - you'll never be stuck for what to wear on the weekend witht this in your wardrobe.

Icon: Kate Middleton in Alice Temperley

Does this girl ever get it bloody wrong? Kate - please, please just walk out of the house/castle with your bra strap showing, an ill fitting jacket - or even just a loose hem! Here she is at Wimbledon today in a gorgeous summer frock by Alice Temperley dress. At £395, the Moriah dress is currently on sale from £795 - click here for a link.

All in white just as you should she at Wimbledon, Kate looked gorgeous and superslim - we're not jealous at all?!  Love the detail on the back too...

Boutique: Neon from Pret a Portobello

No sooner had we blogged about the surge of neon yellow (see our postings on Samantha Cameron in Christopher Kane and our favourite designer bits here) when the wonderful guys at Pret a Portobello do the same, with some amazing pieces to help you mix the trend into your capsule wardrobe.

Their whole offering screams Ibiza, which we are obviously big fans of following our escapades last week, but here are our fave pieces from the brilliant online shopping site (which if you don't already know about, you should).

"Brought to you all the way from Bondi Market in Sydney, Australia, this stunning tropical palm print kaftan from Clover Love is not going to be found anywhere else in the UK! Throw on as a cover up over your favourite bikini on the beach, or team with a simple vest or tee and your skinny jeans for a perfect summers day outfit."

We've blogged about these brilliant PPB bangles before, but this is the perfect excuse to do so again - great for someone looking for a quick colour injection into a classic summer look...

"Fantastic enamel bangles from PPB. Bang on the catwalk trend for stackable bangles, wear these alone or stacked for an amazing look this season. Available in 4 bright colours...only question is...which to choose!?!"

This tee is again great for a relaxed summer look, pair with a maxi skirt or better still some white jeans and neutral heels for true summertime urban cool...

"Super chic sheer coral blouse by Louche. Team with this season's must have pleated skirt for a bold look that's right on trend..."

High Street: Osman/Zara Bib Dress

Couldn't help but notice this  Osman Yousefzada dress in last week's Grazia magazine - love the bright colour and the cut - very Victoria Beckham.  However, I couldn't help but feel I'd seen a very similar one before on the high street.  Sure enough today is has dawned on me - I did, at Zara.  Now, I am sure that quality wise the above version is far better and will no doubt flatter your shape a great deal more, but for a general high street steal look no further than here:

It has a couple more sections, so at £30 you actually get more fabric for your money :) - and it actually feminises the dress with the floaty and flirty laters.  Treat yourself...

High Street: River Island Breton/Fruit Tunic

Sorry for being so obsessed with Stella McCartney-type stuff at the moment - but for those of you who emailed to say they a bit scared to an allover fruit job (ie; something similar to my new Zara tee here) I've found a brilliant altervative - mixed up with the French Breton style at River Island.

Lovely look for a holiday - and a very good halfway house!

Icon: Jennifer Aniston in Marie Claire

Despite having possibly the worst relationship record in history, there is a part of us that really wishes we were more like Jennifer Aniston (and dare we say it, we'd pick her over blood collecting Angelina any day).  Framed as the perfect girl next door - she makes jeans, neutrals and tees acceptable, and has never worn a dress on the red carpet that we don't want to have ourselves (she has probably kept Calvin Klein in business too, showcasing many a piece for them).

In the new Marie Claire, she shows off her perfectly toned and tanned figure in a chic Ann Demeulemeester jacket and shorts posing with co-star Jason Bateman.  Jealous?  Envious?  Yes.  She has a better figure than most 21 year olds, and is the complete definition of classic style.  We often look to her for inspiration for capsule wardrobe pieces, as she has the best kept one in Hollywood.

Icon: Rosie Huntingdon Whiteley

 Pics by Maxus

I don't think anyone makes me more 'body and face jealous' than this girl - even as an 110% straight person, I have a massive crush on her.  She pouts without even trying, her legs go on forever and if she wore a bin bag she'd still look insanely hot.  Also, to add insult to injury - fashion houses have caught on to this, and give her loads of free stuff.  Here she is in Michael Kors, above, promoting the new Transformers movie.  Also, below is the look from the runway...

Essential: Mulberry Polly

Daily Mail

Erm, hello bag crush - how I have missed you, and are we really all that surprised that Kate Middleton has one (through one of her freebies special relationships with designers...

Just when my heart had recovered from the lack of Alexa in it's life Mulberry creates the Polly - and I HAVE ONE!  My lovely friend bought me one, and it was a lovely surprise a few months ago when I was feeling majorly rubbish after an operation.  I love my Polly in equal measure to my dog, my shoe collections and possibly my parents.

Now, these bags are pricey - sickeningly so.  But for every moment you can't afford a coffee - you will find two more where you absolutely love your handbag.  You could wait for the high street alternatives, I'm sure Topshop and the usual suspects will create fantastic replicas - but you'll also know you have a replica.  Buy the real one.  Beg, borrow or steal (preferably not the latter but you get the idea).

Boutique: Ash and Dans

We've just stumbled across a lovely new brand for us to spend our pennies on - meet Ash and Dans.  'Comfort cool' at it's very best!  Ashley Cook and Danielle Dankner own and make all the stuff from their studio in New York City.

Describing the style on their website, Ash, the color-loving Coloradan, and Dans, the nothing-but-black-wearing New Yorker, married their distinct styles and personalities, ash&dans was born, the perfect blend of classic and cool.'

Our favourites are their scarves, have a looksee:

They seem to have nailed making a classic outfit stand out - put one of these with your classic pieces to give the look a real boost.  Find them here.

Duchess of Cambridge's Stella McCartney dress

We clearly aren't the only ones who enjoy sale shopping - Kate Middleton was spotted out in a gorgeous peach silk Stella McCartney SS09 dress for the Duke of Edinburgh's 90th birthday (at least that's what I think it is).  Reduced at Selfridges from £1,425 to £305.  So if you do have a spare few hundred pounds going spare, this dress is great way to end that problem...

Boutique: Neon Hart Leopard Print Maxi

It wasn't a surprise to us when hot-bog model Jess Hart launched a clothes brand, and equally wasn't a surprise that it is available exclusively at Selfridges, they're good like that.  Here is my fave piece from the collection - we want it.  Leopard print can look so wrong if made cheaply, so breathe deeply and spend £120 on this little number.

Icon: Samantha Cameron in Christopher Kane

We are hoping that Sam Cam reads our blog (we can dream).  No sooner have we finished a post about neon and Christopher Kane, does she wear this electric number at the Scottish Fashion Awards.

I love it, I think...  See our neon post from Monday here.

High Street: Zara Fruity Silk Tee

I have well and truly let myself down.  I promised myself I wouldn't fall victim to the fruit-fetish that took over our summer - as it is definitely a look our children will laugh at (and then wear themselves ten years later).  Before 2011, the only woman who kept this look up was Pat Butcher in Eastenders (google her if you are not from the UK).  Now. it's an essential.  I went to Zara on Saturday and spent £30 on the above silk tee - and I'm a little bit in love with it...

 Stella McCartney

Inspired by the below - and I was even good enough not to buy the Primark Lemon Print dress that every girl and their dog (for one girl, I mean that literally) is wearing at the moment in London.

Moschino

Stella McCartney

I absolutely love it, I feel instantly summery and also find it really breaks up an outfit from a standard T shirt and jeans scenario.  Advise you purchase...
