Look for SS11: Applique Flowers

This look did start to come through at the end of last year, but it has taken long to translate into the high street market.  Elie Saab's collection for SS11 (below) had some amazing pieces featuring appliqued flowers.  Keeping colours neutral as the design does all the talking - really important not to go too bright with these (red is the exception) as it will be too much.

This style is great for someone who wants to get  in on the floral look but is afraid of bold patterns or colours.  Topshop has brought out some amazing pieces with that trail of thought, see below for a gorgeous peach vest and a cream dress.

H&M and Dorothy Perkins also have some quaint pieces - again in nude coloures (nice to see that not everyone is wondering around in vibrant orange and pink!).  FC's are more subtle which would be lovely for someone who isn't hugely girly.  Saying that, this trend looks amazing mixed with leather as a kind of 'good and bad' type thing.  I'm wearing mine (I bought the Topshop top above in cream) with my leather trousers and camel blazer.  Lovely change from a usual top.  Once again, this will probably just be a fad some don't spend gazillions on it - £40 max!

As I said above, H&M have some really great and fairly inexpensive ways to integrate the look into your wardrobe.  They have their own version of the cream applique dress that TopShop have - but theirs is £10 cheaper - so you decide.  From experience, H&M seems to fit more closely so it depends how you want to wear it...

Here are few other gems from their collection, really like the navy dress as it's a nice mix of girly and plain colourings.  The cardigan is quite subtle which again suits the more calmer dresser:

Let me know how you end up working it into your wardrobe!

I love the dress from DP. I'm really missing them being in the US right now. I recently posted a pink dress with some applique flowers on my blog and I think it's going to be something I get a lot of wear of out this summer. Great post!
